Dog-Friendly Jackson Hole Hotel: The Cloudveil
Let me start out by saying that for me, The Cloudveil is more than just a hotel. It is truly an experience. The Cloudveil is the only hotel located on Jackson, Wyoming’s historic Town Square, steps from all of the charming shops and the incredible restaurant & bar scene. The western-inspired design is both refined yet rugged, and cozy yet luxurious. Their website describes it as “an Oasis of Rough-hewn Sophistication,” and I honestly can’t get over that description, it is perfect.
We recently visited Jackson during the winter and had an incredible experience, but Jackson is truly a remarkable destination year-round. I’ll save my sales pitch on the wide variety of activities and natural beauty of the area for my upcoming post about the destination itself, because this is a hotel that definitely deserves a post of its own!
Traveling with dogs in the winter to a destination with temperatures that drop as low as they do in Wyoming can be quite a challenge. We have found that the key to being able to bring our dogs along on winter adventure and ski trips is staying at a hotel that is not just dog-friendly, but genuinely dog welcoming. The Cloudveil definitely falls into that category, which makes it a place that we look forward to coming back to with the dogs year after year.
Pet-friendly design - A
During our recent trip we stayed in a Premier King Guestroom, which overlooked the town of Jackson. All of their rooms feature a gas fireplace, and a small seating area. Last year we got really lucky and got upgraded to The Cloudveil Suite, which has a whole separate living area and a large balcony overlooking town - that was next level. But I think that all of their rooms are a nice size, and have worked well for us with the dogs. The only downside to hotel stays with dogs in the winter is that letting them out to potty can be a hassle (and freezing cold). There unfortunately isn’t a designated potty spot on site, so we usually just go for a quick walk around the block.
Amenities - A+
The Cloudveil gets a clear A+ in this category. While checking in with our dogs, they asked if we would like dog bowls and/or beds brought up to the room. Shortly thereafter, they brought up stylish dog bowls along with cozy Pendleton dog beds. And not only that, but each of the dog beds was sized appropriately for our dogs! The whole property is very dog-friendly. The lobby is stunning and a great place to relax, with a large fireplace and a variety of seating areas. The on-site restaurant, The Bistro, also serves drinks and snacks in the lobby. We spent a fun evening drinking cocktails and playing games in the lobby with the dogs while listening to live music. You can check out the events page of the hotel website for the details on activities/music happening during your stay. The restaurant itself is not dog-friendly inside, but in the warmer months they have patio dining which is dog-friendly. There is also a stunning rooftop terrace, called The Rooftop, with views of town and Snow King mountain which is dog-friendly and open for drinks and pop up events during the summer months.
Proximity to activities - A+
With its location right in Town Square, the hotel is situated in the heart of the action and everything the Jackson Hole area has to offer. We love to grab coffee and walk around town, and we found that several of the shops were also dog-friendly. The hotel is also only 20 minutes from Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, which is also very dog-friendly and is a fun spot to visit and dine/drink year-round, even if you aren’t a skier. If you are coming to ski, the hotel offers a shuttle service straight to the resort, and they will even store your ski equipment for you.
Rules & Regulations - A
When checking in with your dog, they will have you sign a standard waiver. They welcome all well-mannered dogs, and do not have any size or breed restrictions. No more than 2 dogs are allowed per room.
Pet Fees - B+
The pet fee is $150 per stay, and up to 2 pets are included in this fee. While this is a somewhat steep for a pet fee, I actually don’t think it’s too bad for a luxury hotel, especially when spread out over the duration of our stay and when compared to the cost we would incur in dog sitting/boarding fees if we left them home. I also appreciate that it is a one-time fee that includes both dogs.
A few other perks to note:
1) Each floor of the hotel also features a drink and snack area with things like trail mix, chips, tea, hot chocolate and sparking water - no elusive/or expensive water supply here! They also give you a Cloudveil branded reusable water bottle that you can use at the water station during your stay, and keep as a souvenir.
2) The hotel is part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection, which means that you can book the hotel with Marriott points (it can be a great redemption!), and also get all of the benefits of your Marriott status, if applicable.
There you have it! If you are looking for a high-end dog-friendly Jackson Hole hotel, look no further than The Cloudveil. You can also click here to see our Instagram reel with an overview of our stay!
