Getaway Dog-Friendly Tiny Cabins
Last fall I stayed with the dogs in one of Getaway’s dog-friendly tiny cabins located just two hours outside of Portland, Oregon. This location is Getaway Mount Adams, and although it is not too far from the city, it feels like you’re nestled in your own private hideaway in the trees. Their cabins are meant to be a place to disconnect from every day life, and reconnect with yourself or loved ones. The whole experience felt very private, on the day of check-in I received the details of my specific cabin location and a digital code for access.
The best part is that Getaway has cozy dog-friendly tiny cabins located in close proximity to major cities across the US. Check out the Getaway website for details on all of their locations. Each cabin has a picture window so that you can soak in the views. I curled up with the dogs and a good book for the afternoon and it was so peaceful! While the cabins are small (150-200 square ft.), they are equipped with a kitchenette and mini fridge, as well as a small desk and a full bathroom. They also have a private outdoor area with a fire pit, grill grate, chairs and a picnic table. There are other cabins nearby, but I felt that the design and layout made it still feel very private.
Dogs are welcome to join you at all of their locations for a $50 cleaning fee. They also ask that you keep your pup on leash while outside, and do not leave them unattended in the cabins. In addition to the nice grounds and local area for exploring, the location we visited also had a nature trail which was a nice option for walks with the dogs.
Another thing to keep in mind when planning your trip is that the secluded nature of Getaway’s outposts means cell phone service may be spotty or nonexistant. At the Mount Adams location there was not cell service or wifi, so just something to keep in mind so you go into it with the mindset of being able to fully disconnect. Also be sure to check the fire laws for the location you are heading, or ask the specific outpost whether fires will be allowed during the time of year that you are visiting.
